Culture Rebirth in Motion: Information Centre for Old KL

The selected location, Central Market, lacks a hospitable ambiance, influencing how visitors perceive the space. It is crucial to establish an engaging information and cultural zone within this area to enhance awareness of Kuala Lumpur's rich heritage and origins. The local culture is thinly dispersed throughout the city, and the absence of a centralized hub results in disorientation for those navigating the area. This lack of a clear local identity not only reduces interest but also encourages stereotyping among visitors.

This project entails the establishment of an information centre designed to embody the city's welcoming ambiance and cultural characteristics. Serving as a focal point, the information centre aims to consolidate the diverse cultural elements scattered throughout the area, providing visitors with a convenient stop to gather information. The primary goal is to entice visitors to enabling them to access information and immerse themselves in a cultural experience distinct from the traditional information centre. The information centre seeks to revive the vibrancy of the old KL street, acting as a hub for the diverse performance cultures of various ethnic groups within the building.
